The reception venue matters as much as anything else on your wedding day, and getting married at Villa Antiche Mura in Sorrento is a wonderful choice. Your ceremony: civil, Protestant or a symbolic blessing

You can hold a symbolic blessing on the villa’s splendid terrace. A Waldensian (Valdese) Protestant ceremony, which is legally binding, is also possible.

After the ceremony: gardens, drinks and the big group photo

Once the ceremony is over, the staff serve drinks and canapés and you toast with your guests while mingling. This is a lovely, unhurried time to photograph – the hugs, the laughter, the first moments as a married couple.

The villa’s gardens are perfect for portraits of the two of you, and a short walk down to the private beach, available to villa guests, gives us some wonderful photos by the sea.

It has become a tradition for me to take one large group photo with all the guests on the villa’s steps. Everyone arranges themselves freely across the two tiers, with the bride and groom in the centre – it is always one of the happiest photos of the day.

Sunset and the cutting of the cake

Towards dusk the atmosphere at Villa Antiche Mura becomes truly magical. The sunset creates a symphony of colour – an intense blue sky melting into gold – and that is when the traditional cutting of the cake takes place, with the colours of the sunset behind you.

It is a moment that takes your breath away, and one that gives your guests memories as vivid as the photographs. For me it is one of the most beautiful moments of any wedding I photograph in Sorrento.

Dinner, speeches and the first dance

As night falls the celebration moves on to dinner, speeches and dancing. I stay with you until the end of your coverage, photographing the toasts, the reactions of your guests and your first dance as the evening goes on – the moments you are too busy living to see for yourselves.
