Why couples choose Positano

Many couples choose Positano for their Amalfi Coast wedding, and it is easy to see why. It is probably the most beautiful place on the whole coast, with breathtaking cliffs and views in every direction, and it offers an immense variety of ways to celebrate – from a church wedding to a symbolic blessing on a hotel terrace.

Photographing a couple in Positano is a unique experience. The streets, the terraces and the beach give me endless possibilities, and the town is beautiful to photograph not only in summer but throughout the year.

Church weddings at the Church of the Assunta

Positano is one of the few places on the Amalfi Coast where a religious wedding is possible. The Church of the Assunta stands in the heart of the town, just a few minutes from the beach, and it is one of the very few churches on the coast where a Catholic ceremony can take place. Civil ceremonies and symbolic blessings

If you prefer a civil wedding, the ceremony can take place at Positano’s town hall. Many hotels also have large, splendid terraces with spectacular views over the bay, where you can hold a symbolic blessing or simply exchange vows. Some private villas in Positano host ceremonies too.

Wherever the ceremony takes place, you are surrounded by extraordinary nature – and that is what makes a wedding day here unforgettable.

After the ceremony, celebrate surrounded by your guests with fabulous food, and raise a glass of limoncello, the famous liqueur made from local lemons. Getting to Positano

You can reach Positano by car or motorbike, or by motorboat or boat. If you have the energy, you can even arrive by bicycle. For guests staying elsewhere on the coast, the boat is often the most beautiful way to arrive. [TODO Adamo: add practical advice on parking, steps and guest transfers]

Wedding photography in Positano

My approach in Positano is the same as everywhere: I photograph the day as it happens, discreetly, and I make sure nothing that matters is missed. Positano offers so many possible settings that good planning makes all the difference, so before the wedding we plan the day together – where the ceremony and dinner will be, which family groups you want, and where and when we will take your portraits.

Some of the most beautiful photographs happen away from the crowds: on a panoramic viewpoint such as La Garitta, on the beach, or out on the water. A boat trip for a short photoshoot is something my couples particularly love – from the sea, Positano looks more romantic than ever.

If Positano is new territory for your venue, don’t worry: whenever I have not photographed a location before, I research it and visit it beforehand to see the light and the backdrops.

I have photographed ceremonies at Positano’s town hall, in a private villa and on a hotel terrace, and each has its own rhythm. A town hall ceremony can be short and intimate, so the moments just before and after it – the arrival, the congratulations, the first walk through the town as a married couple – become just as important to photograph. On a terrace, the view does half the work, and my job is to keep the two of you and your guests at the centre of the picture.

A pre-wedding shoot on the Amalfi Coast

If you are arriving a few days early, a pre-wedding or engagement shoot is a lovely way to get to know each other before the big day – imagine walking along a beach on the Amalfi Coast in your wedding dress. It can be as relaxed or as formal as you like, and the fee depends on the location and time needed.
