A wedding in Puglia
Puglia – or Apulia, as some prefer to call it – lies in the south of Italy. The Romans called the region Apulia, and some experts believe the name comes from the Greek Iapudes, “those who live on the other side of the Adriatic”.
Getting married in Puglia is an excellent choice, and more and more couples from abroad are discovering it. You can choose between the quiet of the countryside and the seafront; either way, the region offers an almost endless choice of locations, glorious food and warm, friendly people.
Wedding in a masseria
If you love the tranquillity of the countryside, a masseria is the perfect choice. A masseria is a traditional Apulian farm estate – the equivalent of a manor house – and many of them now host weddings. They are traditionally painted white, which reflects the strong summer sun and keeps the rooms inside cool.
In a masseria you find a setting that is rustic and elegant at the same time, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Celebrating your day among the olive groves and vineyards of the Apulian countryside is priceless. Many masserie also offer accommodation for the couple and their guests, so the wedding turns into a relaxed holiday for everyone.
For a photographer, a masseria wedding is a gift: the natural surroundings offer endless possibilities, and I love wandering the grounds with the couple to capture the beauty of the landscape around them.

If the sea is what you love, Puglia has fabulous beaches and breathtaking cliffs. Polignano a Mare, the pearl of Puglia, is one of the most beautiful places to celebrate, and venues such as Coco Beach near Polignano make a ceremony on the beach possible. Ostuni – “the white city” – is another place in Puglia where I have photographed weddings, and its white houses are a beautiful backdrop for portraits.

Why I love photographing weddings in Puglia
Puglia is one of the most attractive regions in Italy, and the details of a wedding here are a joy to photograph: tables set with care and style, wildflowers in the bouquet, beautifully presented local food – at one masseria wedding I even photographed the making of fresh Apulian mozzarella. In the enchanting Apulian countryside, every bride becomes even more beautiful.
Puglia is my home region, so I know it very well, and I am always happy to give my couples advice – on locations and on the places that photograph best.
How I photograph your Puglia wedding
My style is documentary: I follow the day as it happens, from the groom getting ready and waiting for his bride, through the ceremony and the aperitivo, to the cutting of the cake. I stay discreet, but I make sure the family groups and details you care about are all captured.
Before the wedding we plan the timeline and the list of group photos together, and if I have not photographed your masseria or venue before, I research it and visit it beforehand to see where the light falls. On the day I carry two backup cameras, multiple lenses and spare batteries, so nothing is left to chance.
